Pterygium
What is Pterygium?
Are you feeling a grittiness when you blink? It could be pterygium. Don’t let discomfort hold you back

A pterygium is a non-cancerous, fleshy growth of the conjunctiva, the clear membrane covering the eye’s surface. It typically starts from the inner corner of the eye, near the nose, but can also appear at the outer corner or on both sides. It may cause redness and mild irritation. If left untreated, it can grow over the cornea, affecting vision and becoming more noticeable.
Is Pterygium Dangerous?
A pterygium is a non-invasive, non-cancerous growth that won’t spread to other tissues. However, it can grow over the eye’s surface and potentially reach the cornea, which may impair vision and require surgical removal.
