Oculoplastic Surgeon
What is Oculoplastic Surgeon?
A specialized branch of ophthalmology that focuses on the medical and surgical treatment of abnormalities and conditions affecting the eyelids, tear (lacrimal) system, orbit (the area around the eye), and surrounding facial structures
This field addresses a wide range of issues, including eyelid correction, tear duct obstructions, thyroid eye disease treatment, cyst or tumor of the eyelid and cosmetic concerns.
Oculoplastic surgeons are trained to perform both functional and cosmetic procedures, helping to restore or enhance the appearance and function of the eye and its surrounding areas.

Which Condition Can We Treat?
- Ectropion (the eyelid turns outward)
- Entropion (the eyelid turns inward)
- Ptosis (droopy upper eyelid)
- Thyroid eye disease
- Blocked tear ducts
- Functional essential blepharospasm (twitching)
- Facial nerve palsy
Types of Oculoplastic Procedure

Blepharoplasty
This surgical procedure aims to correct droopy eyelids by repairing and strengthening the muscle, as well as removing excess skin, fat, and muscle. It can improve vision obstructed by sagging eyelids and enhance the overall appearance of the eyes.

Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) & Punctoplasty - Lacrimal Tear Duct Surgery
Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) fixes the clogged tear duct, while punctoplasty treats a narrow or blocked nasolacrimal duct. Both relieve excessive tearing and stop infections by restoring normal tear drainage.

Entropion and Ectropion Repair
Eyelids that turn inward can be fixed with Entropion Repair, and those that turn outward can be fixed with Ectropion Repair. Both methods shield the surface of the eye from irritation, discomfort, and damage.

Treatment of Thyroid Eye Disease
This involves managing eye complications related to thyroid disease, such as bulging eyes (proptosis) and double vision (diplopia). Treatment may include surgical and non-surgical options to relieve symptoms and protect eye health.
